Every year, Camp Chippewa depends on the work of dedicated Volunteers, Staff and Counselors.

Paid opportunities
Spend this summer at Camp Chippewa in a dynamic and rewarding community making a difference in the lives of children. We are seeking energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking staff to work in a variety of areas including cabin life, our horse program, the kitchen and the grounds.IMG_6526

  • Camp Chippewa runs a 8-week faith based program
  • Staff Training weeks starts May 22rd
    • Certification Training (Lifeguarding, Horse, CPR/First Aid) begins May 16th.
  • Camp Season kicks off the first week of June and ends the last week of July
  • We offer a camp-competitive salary and room and board

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers provide leadership, friendship and support to campers. Room and board are provided during the week(s) volunteered. Please download, print, complete and return the Volunteer Application and Health Form to Camp Chippewa. Forms and address are located at the bottom of the page. Volellieunteers serve in a variety of capacities, including:

  • Spiritual Directors– Spiritual Directors are typically pastors. During each week of camp, a Spiritual Director helps plan and lead daily chapel sessions, work with the volunteers who are Spiritual Leaders to ensure a consistent message is being given to all campers, and provide spiritual guidance to campers, staff, and volunteers throughout the week.
  • Spiritual Leaders- Spiritual Leaders plan and lead spiritual formation sessions held each day during camp. They also help plan and lead chapel sessions when it is their cabin’s turn. They live in the cabins with the campers and core counselors throughout the week of camp, participating fully in the daily schedule.
  • Specialty Leaders/Volunteer Counselors-  are assigned a camp to which they bring an expertise or passion. They help plan and lead daily sessions, specific to the camp they are with. The goal of this position is for campers to walk away with new skills and a great experience. They live in the cabins with the campers and core counselors throughout the week of camp, participating fully in the daily schedule.

 

Who works at Camp Chippewa?

Our staff come from all walks of life with a shared passion for Christ and helping everyone who comes through the gates have a safe, fun, and meaningful experience at our ACA Accredited camp.
Our Core Counselors lead activities and stay in the cabin with the campers are future, current, or post-grad college students from universities such as; Colorado Christian University, Emporia State University, Kansas State University, Ottawa Ulydianiversity, and the University of Kansas.

All Chippewa staff and volunteers are Safe Gatherings certified which includes a criminal background check. More information about Safe Gatherings can be found here.
All staff are also CPR/First Aid & AED certified, as well Camp Chippewa has an RN living on site.
Our horse program is led by two CHA certified staff members. All activities are led by certified staff who have gone through extensive training in each area.  All staff also go through an extensive, purposeful, and intentional Staff Training prior to camp.

of Camp Chippewa, but in the winter! Open to current 3rd through 8th graders who will spend 4 days (3 nights) enjoying many of the traditional summer camp activities with a winter time twist!

Prepare for the summer of a lifetime!

With 9 different weeks and many camps to choose from, there is a camp for everyone!
Chippewa offers Kids and Parent overnights, 3 day Mini-Camps, and 5 day camps to fit any schedule and adventure level!

 

So… what do we DO at Summer Camp?

Everyday is a new adventure at Camp. We’ll always eat, sleep, and swim everyday, while facing new challenges, learning new skills, and growing closer to God with our lifelong friends.

We’ll worship. We’ll laugh. We’ll stargaze and dream.
We’ll get out of comfort zone (in a good way!)
We’ll eat s’mores, play in nature,and most importantly,
WE’LL HAVE FUN!

When you volunteer for Chippewa, the fruits of your labor will have a lasting impact! The work our volunteers do help us keep the site of the camp looking impeccable year-round. Whether you are great at woodwork activities, painting, or have an ability to lift heavy things, we can find an activity that you can help out with!

There are always a  variety of projects available for people and families of all ages and abilities.

Camp Chippewa provides lodging for anyone spending the weekend with us! The Mission Team from Wesley UMC in Parsons, Ks has been generous in their contribution of free meals for our previous work retreats.

This year we will be collecting donations for Camper Scholarships for Summer 2017. Summer Camp is an impactful experience for children, youth, and adults and we want to be able to remove any barriers there might be for campers to come experience God’s grace and love at Chippewa.
The average cost for a week-long 2016 session is $320.
